We help businesses understand the benefits of social media marketing

Who we are:

Blether Media is based in Glasgow and run by Kyle MacRae and Chris Connick. You can contact us here.

Kyle MacRae

Kyle was a technology journalist for 10 years. He published 12 books on consumer technology with Haynes and contributed hundreds of features and reviews to the consumer press, always with a focus on making technology accessible.

In 2005, Kyle launched Scoopt, the world’s first citizen journalism picture agency. Scoopt was an early, successful experiment in socialmedia (before the term was in vogue and before Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social sites were big news). He built an international brand on a marketing budget of virtually zero by listening to people, engaging with them, adding value to relevant conversations, and encouraging word-of-mouth spread. In short, by running a successful social media marketing strategy. He sold Scoopt to Getty Images, the world’s biggest image company, in 2007.

Kyle then worked with Channel 4 on its ground-breaking ‘DisarmingBritain’ season, which took the controversial subject of knife and gun crime directly to those affected by it through social channels like Bebo.

In early 2009, Kyle co-founded Blether Media with his wife, Jill.

Chris Connick

Chris’s background is in the creative arts, with a passion for music, design and digital technologies. In 1994, he won the Scottish Young Musician of the Year competition, and in 2002 he co-founded De Rosa, a successful rock band.

Between 2002-2009, De Rosa released two albums and three singles, and won tremendous critical acclaim. Their first album ‘Mend’ was #16 in Mojo’s top 50 albums of 2006; and their second album ‘Prevention’ was voted #15 album of the decade in The Skinny.

These years in the music industry put Chris in the right place to witness and exploit the power of social media to gain exposure and build audiences. While studying , he worked on social media campaigns for Ladyhawke and Graham Coxon.

He has since created Electra French records and promotes, among others, Mitchell Museum, whose promo campaign is heavily based on social media marketing strategies.

Chris joined Blether Media in late 2009, and became a director and partner in 2010.
